LOVE STORIES CAPTURED IN QUARANTINE
To know love
TO BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND HARDSHIP

These are unusual times, to say the least! We’ve all had to readjust, re-learn, and even grieve. At the end of this, we will all be stronger. A huge part of keeping our sanity and relationship healthy is growing individually and as a couple, and looking forward to the future we are building together. And yes, there is still a way to do that in quarantine, it may even be one of the biggest silver linings in this crisis; that we now have more time to grow in love, and in becoming better for ourselves and for our partner—at least that’s how I see it! This is a little guide of things that I’ve found solace in within my relationship, and could hopefully be useful to you and your partner!
How my partner and I have coped with isolation
MUSIC. MOVIES. BOOKS.
One of the silver linings throughout this entire experience has been finally having the time to dive into films, movies, and books that we individually love and want to share. Aside from discovering new music, films, and books together, we have also taken turns sharing each other’s favorites, from nostalgia to things that shaped us. After watching/listening or reading something we then discuss our ideas. Music has also been key, listening to records or playlists while we are keeping the house tidy, or enjoy a drink on our patio or living room. These little rituals have brought us closer!
I believe it is within all of us to enjoy and even find it a necessity to create. It varies from person to person, for some it can be a new recipe, for others writing, building, singing, or drawing. Some might think of themselves as non-creative, but the simple act of creating anything can be incredibly meditative and even healing. No need to master anything, the simplicity of an adult coloring book and a glass of wine with some nice music in the background is heaven.
The excuse for not learning has always been not having enough time, and we can’t excuse ourselves anymore. What are you drawn to learning? A new language? A new skill? There are a plethora of free resources online you can dig through and a lot of places are even offering free courses! You can learn or practice a new language, pick up an instrument, learn about writing, learn about topics that can help your career growth, or maybe even adopt a new passion all-together.
Lastly, nothing centers your mind and body like exercise and a healthy diet do. If you don’t already exercise, this is an excellent time to try to incorporate a low impact routine that helps you not only break away from the mundane day-to-day habits but sooner than you realize even feel better emotionally and physically. Try to replace bad eating habits with new easy to make dishes, prepare food for the week, try out new recipes, and hopefully come out of this feeling and looking better than ever!
